• How do I lodge an objection on the portal?

    This How do I lesson starts on the homepage of the portal after you have logged in.

    Select Online forms for the left menu.

    The Online forms screen will be displayed.

    This screen displays a list of available online forms.

    Select the Private ruling application and objections link.

    The Private rulings and objections screen will be displayed.

    This screen displays the four steps required to complete an objection.

    You are at step three. Ensure that you have completed steps one and two before proceeding with the application. This includes downloading, completing and saving the form accessed from our website. A link to the application form is included on this page.

    You will need to complete the online form in one session. There is no save facility.

    Select the Lodge an objection link.

    The Objection screen will be displayed.

    This screen displays the information required to submit your client’s objection.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – select main subject screen will be displayed.

    This screen allows you to choose the main subject for the objection.

    Select the main subject for the objection from the drop down menu.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – required information screen will be displayed.

    This screen displays a list of questions to help us determine whether your objection meets the legal requirements of Division 3 of Part IVC of the Taxation Administration Act 1953.

    Answer the questions for all clients who are the subject of the objection.

    Select Yes to indicate that the objection will be lodged within the specified time period.

    Provide the start and end date for the period for which you are lodging the objection.

    Select the type of objection from the drop down menu.

    Select Yes to indicate your objection application form clearly states the grounds you rely on.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – required information continued screen will be displayed.

    This screen allows you to enter information about the decision, notice or determination you are objecting to – including the reference number and date.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – applicant details screen will be displayed.

    This screen displays the applicant details for the objection.

    Update the details displayed on this screen where needed.

    Details collected on this screen will not be used to update our records.

    Select the number of clients from the drop down menu, if there is more than one for this objection.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – enter client information screen will be displayed.

    This screen allows you to enter the details of the clients for this objection.

    Enter the details required for your clients.

    Select Next.

    The Objection – confirm client information screen will be displayed.

    This screen confirms the details of the clients for this objection.

    Select Back to make changes.

    Select Next to continue.

    The Objection – file attachments screen will be displayed.

    This screen allows you to attach both:

    • your objection application
    • any additional documents.

    Attachment guidelines:

    • there is a limit of six attachments per submission
    • each attachment can be no larger than 3.7MB
    • acceptable file types are .doc, .pdf, .rtf, .xls, .tif, .jpg, .zip, .bmp, .mpp, .ppt, .png,.gif, .docx, .dotx, .xlsx, .xltx, .pptx, .potx and .ppsx
    • if scanning text, use black and white settings at 72 dpi
    • if scanning images, use black and white settings at 200 dpi.

    Select Browse.

    The choose file window will be displayed.

    This screen allows you to choose the file to be attached from your computer.

    Choose the objection application from the list.

    Select Open.

    The Objection application field displays the name of the file selected.

    The Objection application field displays the name of the file selected.

    Select Attach.

    The attached file name is displayed in the Attached files list.

    Select Browse to attach additional files. You will follow the same process you used to attach the objection application.

    To remove a file from the list select the checkbox beside the file name you wish to remove and select Remove files button.

    Select Next.

    To submit your transaction, you will need to digitally sign your transaction.

    The Transaction completed screen is displayed when you have submitted your transaction.
