Overview
Once you have logged in to the portal, you will be taken directly to the portal home page.
This screen provides:
- Commissioner's message
- Key updates
- Quick links
- Access to portal functions via the left navigation bar
- Access to client information via the Your clients TFN/ABN field.

Navigating this site
There are three navigation points that will appear on every screen within the portal:
The menu/left navigation bar
The menu bar appears at the left of your screen with the following menu items (depending on your access):
- To do today
- Home
- Favourites
- Your details
- Your dealings
- Reports
- Your clients
- Mail
- Online forms
- Tools and calculators
- Access manager
- File transfer.
You can select a menu item from anywhere in the portal to navigate to your chosen screen.
Only functions you have been given authorisation to access will be displayed.
Global navigation bar
The global navigation bar appears at the top of each screen and contains a universal set of items for the portal:
- About this portal
- Site map
- Contact us
- Help
- Logout.
Help is context sensitive, displaying the help most relevant to the screen you are viewing.
Supporting document navigation bar
This bar, which appears at the bottom of each screen, provides you with security and technical advice, information about privacy, and the portal's terms and conditions. We recommend that you take the time to read these documents because they govern the supply and use of this portal.

To do today
This screen alerts you to unread messages in your own inbox.
If you are authorised to access other users' mail, this screen also alerts you to:
- the number of unread messages in the practice inbox
- names of other active users who have unread messages more than two weeks old
- names of removed users with messages in their inbox.

Favourites
You can keep a list of up to 10 websites you commonly use. The websites may include the portal, our other sites or external websites. You can use, add, update, sort and delete your favourite websites.

Your details
This provides the current details we have about your organisation.

Your dealings
You can check the status of all the enquiries you have sent to us relating to your practice.
This screen will allow you to view:
- enquiries sent to us, including phone, mail, portal and fax
- the current status of enquiries
- the estimated completion date for enquiries.

Reports
This functionality provides relevant reports on your clients’ activities with us. Each report lists all the clients and accounts/roles you are authorised to access.

Your clients
Your clients functionality provides you with the ability to either list your clients or search for a specific client and obtain detailed information including:
- account transaction information – including payment options and methods and the ability to request transfers and refunds
- client registration details including name, addresses and contact details – this includes the ability to update most of these client details
- status of enquiries for a client showing
- communications with us (including phone, mail, portal and fax) as a result of
- client’s direct communications with us
- communications made on behalf of the client by your practice
- communications made on behalf of the client by former registered tax or BAS agents (registered agents)
- the current status of communications
- the estimated completion date of enquiries
- the ability to search for interactions using a receipt number that has been received from us
- delivery preference for clients’ activity statements
- a list of reports relating to the chosen client
- the income tax lodgment status for the current financial year and up to three years’ history
- activity statements
- payment options for client accounts and the ability to print a personalised payment slip
- authorisation summary for the client roles and/or accounts for which you have authority – including the ability to add or remove a client from your practice list.
The Your clients section on the Home page behaves identically to the Your clients screen.

Mail
Mail is an email-like function that allows you to securely send and receive messages, including attachments on an extensive range of topics.
You will be able to receive a broad range of correspondence from us, including:
- correspondence initiated by us
- replies to all portal correspondence, including online forms
- responses to provision of written advice (POWA) enquiries.
If you have been authorised to access other users’ mail, you will be able to view all other inboxes in your practice, including the Practice mailbox.

Online forms
This function allows you to complete and submit a range of forms while you are online.

Online tools and calculators
This function provides you with access to online tools and calculators on our website.

Access manager
Access manager (AM) is a system that allows registered agents to have greater control over portal access within their practice.
It ensures that each authorised person in the practice can access the portal using their own security credential and allows control over which function each user has access to.
To log in to AM, select Access manager on the left navigation menu in the portal.

This function allows you to lodge specified files, view their status and download and print validation reports confirming successful lodgment.

Tax agent
This function allows you to change the tax agent number (TAN) when there are more than one TAN associated with the security credential.

Commissioner’s message
This section is where the Commissioner of Taxation includes messages.

Key updates
The Key updates section will list any messages about the portal that you need to know about, it is located on the right-hand side of the portal home page.

The Quick links section provides a link to information identified as regularly accessed and is located at the bottom left of the portal home page.
