• Help with opening attached files

Messages from us may contain attachments.

These attachments can be accessed when you select the Download button.

    You can:

    • view these immediately
    • save to your computer
      • by downloading to a nominated folder
      • to the ‘temporary internet files’, when you view the attachment.

Portal correspondence and screen reader software

Some attachments to messages may not be compatible with screen reader software versions.

If you receive an attachment within a message that is not compatible with your screen reader software, you can request that it be re-sent in an alternative format.

To ensure that you do not experience the compatibility issue in future, you should specify in your messages that your preference is to receive attachments in an alternative format.

Downloaded files may be able to be accessed by other users on your computer.

    Our attachment guidelines are:

    • a limit of six attachments per message
    • a maximum file size allowed of 3.7MB.

You will also need the following to view the downloaded files from us:

    • .pdf file - Acrobat Reader (version 5 or later), which is free to download
    • .doc file - Microsoft Word viewer, which is free to download.

Portal correspondence printing without ATO branding, letterhead or logo

    To print the ATO branding:

    • select 'File'
    • select 'Print'
    • select 'Options'
    • choose the 'Drawing objects' checkbox under the 'Include with document' heading.
