• How do I reply to a message?

    To reply to a message, follow these steps:

    1. Select Mail on the left navigation bar and the Portal user inbox screen will be displayed.
    2. Select the link for the message you want to view and the View message screen will be displayed. This screen displays the message from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the message history.
    3. The View message screen displays the details of the selected message, including who allocated the message. If there is a message history, only the three most recent items are shown
    4. Select the Reply button and the Reply – enter message details screen will be displayed. This screen allows you to enter your message details. It displays the steps to
      • complete a reply
      • add an attachment
      • change your email notification details.
    1. Enter the details you want to give us in the message text box. Maximum length is 4,000 characters.
    2. You must complete the name contact details. You can change these details for this message. The phone details are optional.
    3. Select the Next button and the Reply – check and send screen will be displayed. This screen shows all the details for this message.
    4. Select the link for details about how we collect and use information.
    5. Select the Send button and the Reply – receipt and confirmation screen will be displayed. We give you a portal receipt number to use when communicating with us about this message.
    6. Select the Sent link in the left navigation bar and the Sent items screen will be displayed. The message you sent to the ATO is displayed.
